Stroller Classes

What is Stroller Strides®?

Stroller Strides® is a stroller-based fitness program offering a total body workout that can be modified for any level of fitness. Each 60-minute class incorporates elements of cardio, strength training and toning for moms; and songs, games and activities for children. Our mission is to help you make strides in fitness, motherhood and life!

When do you offer classes?

FIT4MOM-Towson offers classes 6 days a week! During the outdoor season we meet Monday thru Friday at Meadowood Park (Towson Town Center in the event of rain) from 9:15AM-10:15AM. On Saturdays we meet from 8:45AM-9:45AM. We also meet Tuesdays & Thursdays at Hunt Valley Towne Centre (Titan Crossfit in Hunt Valley in the event of rain) from 9:30AM-10:30AM.

Do I need a jogging stroller to attend class?

No! Just about any kind of stroller will do - snap-n-go's and other travel systems work well too! We don't recommend umbrella strollers as they are hard to maneuver and are prone to tipping.

What should I bring to class?

Please bring plenty of water, sun block (for outdoor classes) and any other essentials to keep you and your baby happy - we recommend snacks, books, toys, etc. Please dress in appropriate workout attire and wear comfortable shoes. Having a towel or yoga mat is also appropriate for floor/ground exercises and stretching at the end of class. Always make sure you eat a healthy breakfast or light snack before coming to class - this is very important if you're a nursing mother. In addition, you should consider bringing a post-class snack with you, especially if you plan to stick around after class for awhile.

Can I participate Stroller Strides classes if I am pregnant?

We absolutely encourage expectant mothers to attend! Instructors are trained in both pre- and post-natal fitness and follow the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) fitness guidelines. We can modify any exercise to make it appropriate for you as you progress through your pregnancy. However, we do require a doctor's approval prior to attending class if you are pregnant.

Exercise during pregnancy helps improve or increase:

  • Cardiovascular fitness
  • Muscular strength/endurance
  • Energy levels
  • Higher fatigue threshold
  • Posture and biomechanics
  • Circulation
  • Self-esteem, sense of well-being
  • Post-Delivery recovery time

I am recently post-partum, when can I begin taking classes?

Typically between 6-8 weeks after having a baby with your doctor's permission.

What do I do if my baby gets fussy?

Our first priority is the happiness of your baby! Because we stop in regular intervals for body toning, you can always catch up with us if you fall behind. If your baby ever fusses so much that you miss class, we will be happy to credit you another class. Our instructors will do their very best to make class enjoyable for both you and your baby by incorporating songs, stories and games into our class.

What if the weather is bad?

Sign up for class ahead of time and you will receive an email notification at least an hour before the start of class if we need to change locations due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. Schedule changes due to weather will also be posted on our Facebook Page by 8:30am.

Are gift certificates available for purchase?

Body Back

What is Body Back?

Body Back workouts are designed specifically for women and offer high-intensity interval (HIIT) workouts that will push your limits and give you the strength needed for motherhood. This method (HIIT) is proven to yield the best results and the highest calorie burn. Not only that, but these classes will also provide the time and space you need to re-focus and concentrate on yourself. Whether you're looking to lose weight, build strength, gain endurance or commit to a new routine, these sessions can help you achieve it ALL! Our workouts are offered in a variety of different formats with a combination of Cardio, Strength & Core exercises using both indoor and outdoor spaces (weather permitting). Each workout is unique, challenging & fun! Every class concludes with a meditation to end your day in a peaceful and relaxed state of mind.

I'm completely out of shape. Are these workouts right for me?

We have all fitness levels in our classes, but we will warn you; these classes are hard! Our goal is to deliver a workout that will challenge any fitness level. You might not be able to do every single thing your first class, but you will be able to by the end of your 8-week session! A commitment to the program & a positive attitude are all you need to arm yourself with for this program!

Can I participate in Body Back if I am pregnant?

This workout is not intended for pre-natal exercise and we do not recommend following the meal plans during pregnancy. If you become pregnant during the course of your Body Back session, please notify your instructor. We offer Stroller Strides and Stroller Barre as appropriate pre-natal exercise programs.

Do I bring my child(ren) with me to this class?

This class is for women without children present. We offer Stroller Strides and Stroller Barre for when your children accompany you to exercise class.
